Just because a company says it’s a “Restoration Company” doesn’t make it so!
Due to the downturn in the economy, many builders, contractors and trades-people are changing their focus from construction to restoration. With that being said, a lot of unreasonable expectations and false advertising has flooded the world of restoration causing great concern and dissatisfaction amongst consumers, as well as experts in the restoration industry such as Wilds. There is a huge difference between having the skills to build something from scratch and actually decontaminating, restoring and rebuilding something.
Often times, we are called out to a job where a “restoration company” was hired to do restoration work and the consumer realizes (often too late) that the company or friend they have hired does not have right equipment or certifications to address all of their restoration needs. This mistake can be very costly, time consuming and frustrating for the consumer. If the job isn’t done right the first time, it will more than likely lead to more headaches down the road including but not limited to non-coverage regarding future repairs. It is very important to check the references of the restoration company you are considering.
Here are some very important questions to ask before hiring a company who claims to be a “restoration company”:
- Are your water technicians IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning & Restoration Certified)?
- Are you full-service handling emergency temping as well as full structural repairs?
- Does your company have a Certified Restorer on staff?
- What kind of warranty does your company provide for the work it performs?
- Does your company have the capability of permanently removing odors such as smoke and mold?
- Is your company RIA (Restoration Industry Association) certified?
- Is your company’s home office located in the state of Indiana?
- Will your company inventory, restore and store my personal belongings until the restoration work is completed?
- Will I be able to contact an employee of your company 24/7 if need be?
Wilds Restoration can do all of these things and more! Call us at 317-352-1240 anytime to start your restoration process.
